According to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, cards of the national payment system «Mir» for the first time, they occupied more than half of the payment card market in Russia. Based on the results of the third quarter of 2023, «Mir» accounts for 52.5% of the volume of all card transactions in the country and 51.6% of issued cards. In the third quarter of this year, banks issued 424.9 million cards of the Russian payment system to individuals, and the volume of transactions on them amounted to 44.3 billion rubles.
As noted in the materials of the Central Bank, «Mir» cards will occupy more than 50% of the Russian payment market. succeeded for the first time: at the end of the first half of 2023, these indicators (volume of transactions and number of cards) were only 49.4% and 48.2%, respectively. In total, at that time, banks issued 256 million cards «Mir».
Share of cards «World» grew sharply after the international payment systems Visa and Mastercard left Russia in March 2022, when they occupied the main market share. Based on the results of 2021, the maps of «World» accounted for only 25.7% of the total volume of card transactions and 32.5% of the number of cards issued. Before international payment systems left the Russian market, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation planned to increase the share of «Mir» cards by the end of 2023. in circulation only up to 30%.
