Apple has announced significant changes to its App Store policies to comply with the EU Digital Markets Act (DMA). One of the biggest innovations is allowing retro game emulators in the App Store.
What is known
This move allows developers to create and distribute iOS game emulators, and also allows retro game emulator apps to offer games for download. However, according to the updated rules, companies that develop emulator programs must own the rights of these games.
Additionally, Apple has introduced new “Music Streaming Services Authorizations” for apps distributed in the EU. These guidelines allow music streaming apps in certain regions to include links to external websites, purchase buttons.
