The large and in many ways unique Li Auto Mega minivan with a range of more than 700 km, very fast charging and a price of $77,800 (only available) goes on sale in China. Prices were announced yesterday and deliveries will begin on March 11th.
The car received hidden door handles, lidar on the roof and sliding rear doors. Thanks to its design, the Mega achieved a drag coefficient of 0.215 Cd. This is better than the Porsche Taycan's 0.220 Cd. Li Auto Mega currently has the best aerodynamics among minivans.
It boasts impressive dimensions of 5350 x 1965 x 1850 mm with a wheelbase of 3300 mm. The car is only 20 mm shorter than the Mercedes-Benz V-Class. Inside there are seven seats with a 2+2+3 layout. Its center console features Li Auto's signature dual 15.7-inch display, a slim touchscreen on the steering wheel and a large AR-HUD head-up display. The head-up display can display images from side-view cameras. This multimedia system is based on the Snapdragon 8295P chip from Qualcomm.
The seats of the first and second row Mega received a 16-point massage function. The driver's seat supports adjustable cushion firmness and lateral support. Other interior features — 21 speakers, two 50-watt wireless phone charging stations, a 17-inch screen for second-row passengers, a refrigerator and fold-out tables for second-row passengers. Every Li Auto Mega seat offers a heated function except the third row middle seat.
Li Auto Mega is equipped with AD Max autonomous driving system based on two Nvidia Orin-X chips with a total computing power of 508 TOPS. The vehicle is equipped with Hesai lidar, 11 cameras, 12 ultrasonic radars and a millimeter wave radar. The car can move independently on city roads and highways. However, the driver still needs to monitor the process.
Li Auto Mega is equipped with nine airbags. Its torsional rigidity reaches 44,000 Nm/degree. Li Auto Mega is equipped with two electric motors with a total peak power of 400 kW: a synchronous permanent magnet motor on the rear axle with a power of 245 kW and an asynchronous motor at the front with a power of 155 kW. The total system torque is 542 Nm. Thanks to this power, the 2.7-ton Mega accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. The maximum speed is limited to 180 km. Another advantage of this system is the energy consumption of 15.9 kWh/100 km.
The battery capacity is 102.7 kWh, which allows you to travel 710 km on the CLTC cycle. The rated charging power of Mega reaches 400 kW, and the peak charging power — more than 520 kW. As a result, it can charge from 10 to 80% in 10 minutes.
Li Auto Mega is equipped with a front suspension with double wishbones and a rear five-link suspension, two-chamber air springs and shock absorbers with electronic adjustment CDC (Continuous Damping Control), which, according to the manufacturer, provides the most comfortable ride. The suspension height can be adjusted by 70mm.
In China, it will compete with Hongqi HQ9, Zeekr 009, Voyah Dream and Denza D9. In a few days they should show a new version of Denza D9.
