For mobile and desktop segments
Loongson introduced new consumer processors: 3B6600 and 3B7000. This is a new generation, which, among other things, brings more cores.
There are not many details yet, since the announcement is apparently preliminary. But the presentation slides make it clear that both the 3B6600 and 3B7000, despite their different names, are successors to the 3A6000 line.
It is unclear whether there are any changes in the architecture, but it may very well be that there are no, since the new CPUs are already noticeably better. However, the kernels themselves are called differently — LA864 (3A6000 has LA664 cores).
Firstly, the new processors have eight cores instead of four in the 3A6000, which in itself will provide an impressive performance increase. Secondly, if the 3A6000 operates at 2.5 GHz, then the 3B6600 has a frequency of 3 GHz, and the 3B7000 — 3.5 GHz. Again, a very noticeable increase per generation.
Recall that at one time tests showed that the 3A6000 can compete even with modern Intel Core Raptor Lake, but only at the same frequencies and in some applications. That is, increase the frequency for such CPUs — this is already a lot.
It is known that the 3B6600 is aimed at the mobile segment, and the 3B7000 is probably aimed at the desktop segment. The first has an LG200 iGPU, about which there are almost no details. The performance is supposedly only 256 GFLOPS, and this is extremely low by modern standards.
3B7000 has several modern interfaces, including PCIe 4.0, SATA 3.0, USB 3.0, GMAC and HDMI.
