It will be able to accommodate up to four astronauts and 2-3 tons of cargo. The regular “Eagle” is designed only for 750 kg

RKK «Energy» is developing a cargo-passenger version of the manned spacecraft Orel, said Vladimir Solovyov, general designer of the enterprise for manned space systems and complexes, during his report at the Royal Readings. The event dedicated to the memory of the Soviet designer of rocket and space systems S.P. Korolev is taking place at MSTU. Bauman from January 23 to 26.

According to the presentation presented by Solovyov, the new «Eagle» will be able to accommodate from two to four astronauts, as well as 2-3 tons of cargo in an additional cargo compartment. At the same time, the conventional version of the ship, the construction of which was previously reported, is designed for only 750 kg of payload. Accordingly, the weight of the cargo-passenger version will be higher: 19.5 tons, while the regular «Eagle» should weigh 13 tons.

New generation reusable spacecraft «Eagle» is being created by Roscosmos for flights to the promising Russian Orbital Station (ROS), as well as beyond low Earth orbit. Its first flight has already been postponed several times, and in November last year it became known that the first launch should not be expected before 2028-2029. According to Solovyov’s presentation, in the period from 2028 to 2033 it is planned to send 10 ships «Eagle» to the ROS.
