The plant was evacuated
The Tesla plant in Greenheide, Germany, was set on fire by environmental extremists on Tuesday, March 5, causing damage to a substation that left the plant without power. Tesla factory near Berlin was evacuated after arson.
The attack is reported to have occurred in the early morning. The fire quickly spread, forcing Tesla to halt production. Emergency services, including bomb disposal units, attended the scene, highlighting the seriousness of the incident. The incident not only disrupted Tesla's operations, but also affected parts of Berlin and the city of Erkner, causing widespread power outages.
As RIA Novosti writes, left-wing extremists from the Vulcan Group took responsibility for the arson of the substation. In their statement, they called Elon Musk a «technofascist». and the temporary closure of the plant — gift on March 8th. They believe the destruction of the Tesla plant is the right step.
Tesla's Greenhide plant has been controversial since it was built, drawing criticism from environmental groups over its potential environmental impact. Tesla has not yet commented on the incident.
Last week, activists camped out in the trees and built huts to protest Tesla's planned expansion of its factory.
