He took the example of Lei Jun from Xiaomi
Inspired by the example of Xiaomi's Lei Jun, who personally handed over the keys to the first SU7 buyers, leaders of other Chinese car companies are starting to do the same. Wei Jianjun, chairman of Great Wall Motor, recently worked as an employee of GWM's first direct sales store to open in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province. There he topped sales of the newly released Tank 700 Hi4-T.
Some Chinese brands are just experimenting with this sales format. Wei Jianjun talked to potential buyers about the merits of the Tank 700 Hi4-T, even going so far as to accompany one customer on a test drive. Wei said that everyone thinks that this type of car consumes a lot of fuel, but in fact it is not that bad thanks to the plug-in hybrid powertrain, and it can travel 100 kilometers on electric power.
During a test drive, Wei told the client that the Tank 700 Hi4-T has a non-structural body and chassis beams, which means there is much less noise from the road surface. Moreover, he stated that the Tank 700 Hi4-T tires dampen road noise better than the Rolls Royce Cullinan tires.
Unlike other Hi4-T models in the Tank range, the PHEV system's petrol engine is a 3.0L V6 rather than the 2.0L found in other vehicles. The engine has a maximum power of 265 kW and a torque of 560 Nm. There is also a front-mounted electric motor with 120 kW of power and 400 Nm of torque. The total system performance is 385 kW and 800 Nm.
In China, the new product costs from $59,000.
