Perhaps other exclusives too
Microsoft may have decided to significantly change its plans for the exclusivity of its own games. The company is reportedly considering releasing the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle game on PlayStation 5 as well.
The game, we recall, was presented at the recent Xbox Developer Direct event. The Verge says that a new multi-platform approach to some Xbox games is being formed within Microsoft, and the company is now considering which games will remain exclusive to Xbox and PC, and which will be released on other platforms, although they were not originally intended to be released there. And Indiana Jones and the Great Circle — one of the first such games. At the same time, let us remind you that Hi-Fi Rush should be released on PS5 and Switch in the near future.
What is surprising is another similar rumor. The XboxEra resource says that Starfield will allegedly be released on PlayStation 5 — Microsoft's first major exclusive. It's unclear when this will happen, but supposedly it will be tied to the release of the major expansion Shattered Space, which will be released at the end of this year.
If Microsoft actually does this, the two companies will end up with roughly the same format, with some of each company's exclusives only being temporary exclusives. However, there is a difference: Sony eventually releases some of its exclusives on a neutral platform (PC), while Microsoft intends to release directly on a competitor’s platform.
