Previously, the Chinese stopped cooperation with Russia on the project of a large passenger aircraft

During the Dubai Airshow 2023 last week, several contracts were signed for the supply of Russian aircraft (mainly for military purposes) and engines, but one contract was also terminated. According to ATO.ru, the Abu Dhabi Strategic Development Fund and the investment arena of the Tawazun Economic Council of the UAE government announced the severance of cooperation with Russian Helicopters within the framework of the Aeroter joint venture.

Aeroter was created to develop and produce the VRT500 light helicopter and the VRT300 unmanned helicopter. The reason for the termination of cooperation with the Russian side was concerns about the future of the project due to international sanctions: despite Russia’s participation, the helicopter was planned to widely use foreign components. Thus, the engine is Canadian Pratt & Whitney PW207V, avionics is Thales, and the air conditioning system is Liebherr-Aerospace. They planned to assemble the helicopters in Italy.

Let us recall that earlier the Chinese refused to cooperate with Russia within the framework of the project to create a wide-body long-range aircraft COMAC CR929 – now the airliner is simply called C929 (the letters C and R symbolize two countries – China and Russia).
