Pixel 8 can already detect the presence of film
Google Pixel smartphones may soon be able to automatically change the sensitivity of the screen sensor.
In the new version of Android 14 QPR3 Beta 1, there was a mention of a function called automatically adjust[s] [touch sensitivity] to your environment, activities and screen protector. That is, the function will automatically adjust the sensitivity of the sensor depending on various factors. Pixel 8 can already automatically detect the presence of a protective film on the screen and increase the sensitivity of the sensor, and the new function looks like it will be able to do much more.
By weather, we probably mean primarily rain and, as a result, a wet display. By activity, perhaps, we mean swimming with the same effect, but here the situation is less clear.
Given that the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro already have this function in its basic version, it is likely that a software update will bring new features specifically for these smartphones.
