BYD unleashed another price war in China
BYD presented in China an updated hybrid Destroyer 05 — the new version is called Honor Edition. It has two options: with traction batteries, providing a cruising range on pure electricity of 55 and 120 km. Prices range from 11 to 17.9 thousand dollars.
Prices are very low for a car with dimensions of 4780 × 1837 × 1495 mm (wheelbase — 2718 mm) and quite rich equipment. Therefore, in China, one after another, automakers began to reduce prices for their similar hybrids. Thus, the top-end Wiling Starlight sedan with a pure electric range of 150 km has become $850 more affordable, and the Changan Qiyuan Q05 and Changan Qiyuan A05 hybrids have become $3,000 cheaper. Even Hyundai got involved in the price war: the price of the Elantra was reduced to 10.5 thousand dollars. And while the Elantra isn't a hybrid, Hyundai says it gets no more mileage than the Destroyer 05 and its ilk.
The BYD Destroyer 05 Honor Edition is equipped with keyless entry, climate control, a media system with a 12.8-inch screen, a digital dashboard, a multifunction steering wheel, a leather interior (in the top version).
The hybrid power plant is represented by a 1.5-liter engine producing 110 hp. and traction electric motors with a power of 180 or 197 hp
