Governor of the Irkutsk region Igor Kobzev said that the city of Baikalsk could be supplied with energy from geothermal sources in the future.
In his Telegram channel, Kobzev reported that today Rosnedra plans to issue the first license to study the topic of geothermal energy in the region.

We are talking about the territory that is located in the southern part of the Irkutsk region – in the area of Baikalsk, a city which, on behalf of the President, should become the first eco-city in Russia. There are no technical details yet, but previously, in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation, a program for the socio-economic development of Baikalsk until 2040 was approved.
