A new domestic chip for such cards is now being tested: it has three times more memory and five times higher performance
The first line in Russia for packaging microcircuits for Troika cards was opened in Moscow. The production is carried out by the company Micron Security Printing, located in the special economic zone Technopolis Moscow. Previously, components for bank and travel cards came from abroad, but now it has been possible to completely localize their production in the capital.
We are opening a unique production line in Zelenograd for packaging microcircuits for the production of the Troika card. The creation of this production line was the last stage in the localization of the production of «Troika» in Russia. Now all technological operations — from chip production to personalization of the finished card — are produced in Moscow, which makes us independent from any external factors.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin
The new production line consists of 10 installations, which perform the full cycle of chip packaging, including mounting the integrated circuit onto a substrate, welding the leads with aluminum wire, sealing, grinding, electrical testing, cutting and sorting. The use of the technology mastered in Zelenograd is not limited to the production of transport cards: it can be used for the production of Muscovite cards, foreign passports and any other documents with embedded electronic storage media.
This year also began test production of a new generation domestic chip, which has three times more memory and five times more performance: the first generation chip had 100 thousand write read cycles, and the new one &mdash ; already 500 thousand. Cards with new chips will be able to work for up to 10 years and will have increased security. The first thousand cards «Troika» with a new generation domestic chip has already been submitted for testing to the metro. It is planned that in 2024 all transport cards «Troika» will be released with new chips.
