The car can move if the selector lever is in position N

Toyota announced a large recall in the United States: the campaign covers 280 thousand SUVs Toyota Tundra and Tundra Hybrid 2022-2024, Sequoia 2023–2024 and Lexus LX 600 2022–2024 . The problem is with the Aisin AW 10-speed automatic transmission: due to a defect, torque can be transmitted to the wheels if the selector is in position N (in «neutral»). That is, the gear does not turn off immediately after moving the lever to position N.

Toyota said that in cases where this occurs, «the vehicle may unintentionally move forward at low speed». However, the company notes that this only happens when the car is «on a flat surface and the brakes are not applied». However, there is a risk of an accident or collision with a person, so a recall has been announced, as part of which the gearbox software will be updated.
