This is the company's parting gift to the retiring Jim Ryan
Sony Interactive Entertainment held a farewell event for its CEO and President Jim Ryan, who is retiring. During the event, several exclusive products of the company were presented. The star was the one-of-a-kind PlayStation 5, made in the style of the original first PlayStation.
The console even comes with a USB cable that imitates the PS1 controller connector, and also recreates the packaging of Sony's first game console.
Ryan's farewell party also featured cookies decorated with his portrait.
Jim Ryan announced in September 2023 that he would leave SIE in March 2024, with COO Hiroki Totoki serving as interim CEO thereafter. Although Ryan became CEO of SIE in 2019, his career with Sony's European division began in 1994.
