Perhaps Apple will change Siri in much the same way in iOS 18
Google recently renamed its chatbot Bard to Gemini, and now proposes to replace the good old Google Assistant with new AI.
The Gemini app is already available on Google Play, although so far only in the USA and only in English. Gemini is also available on iOS. Google promises to add other languages and regions in the near future.
Like Assistant, Gemini can answer various questions, set a timer, create reminders, and so on. But Gemini as a whole does a lot more than Assistant. For example, if you give him permission to access Gmail, he will be able to work with data from there, that is, find and process some information you need about important events, activities, trips, and so on. However, for some reason, Gemini does not yet have the same access to the calendar, so now it cannot automatically create an event for you with a reminder associated, for example, with some of your trips.
At one time, and almost 10 years have passed, Google Assistant has significantly changed the format of interaction with a smartphone for many. The same goes for Siri, Alexa and other voice assistants. New AIs like Gemini, if tightly integrated into Android or iOS, could once again significantly change the way users interact with their mobile assistants.
