During the First Look event at CES 2024, Samsung presented the first the world's most transparent MicroLED display. The company showed three such devices in different design options.
Two demos used tinted glass, allowing any potential objects behind the panels to be ignored. Another option looked as clear as regular glass, but had a frameless design.
The display of content on transparent MicroLED panels looks almost like a hologram floating in the air. All demo devices were free-standing and only about a centimeter thick, further enhancing the illusion of a floating screen. Additionally, thanks to MicroLED's high pixel density, images looked incredibly sharp.
According to a Samsung representative, since transparent MicroLED displays have higher brightness compared to transparent OLED panels, they are also less affected by ambient light.

There is no information yet on how much such displays might cost or when this technology will appear in retail devices. They'll likely be expensive considering the price of Samsung's opaque MicroLED TVs. For example, a 110-inch model costs $129 thousand
