Samsung is set to play a significant role in the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics. To do this, the company has placed more than 200 Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones. The 2024 Summer Olympics will begin in Paris on July 26 on ships along the Seine River. During the opening, 85 ships with 10,500 athletes will sail along the Seine, and Samsung will organize a broadcast of the event using phones.
Samsung says the Galaxy S24 Ultra will also be placed on the bow and stern of each of its sports vessels from different countries. Phones costing about $1,300 each will broadcast the passage of athletes along the Seine from different angles.
France's largest telecommunications company Orange (formerly France Telecom) will ensure uninterrupted broadcasting for Samsung. More than twelve additional 5G antennas will be installed in Paris to ensure shooting stability for every Galaxy S24 Ultra. Additional preparations will include dealing with possible winds and heat.
Samsung flagships support optical image stabilization, which is useful when shooting on rocking boats. This is a kind of test of the Galaxy S24 Ultra in extreme conditions. Its result can be seen on television or online broadcast of the event. This is not the first time Samsung has resorted to strange advertising campaigns. In March, several Galaxy S24 Ultra phones photographed the Earth from the stratosphere.
