Resident Evil Revelations suddenly received an update and at first players did not understand. Then they suspected a trace of DRM and a pogrom began in Steam reviews
Resident Evil Revelations has received about 70% negative reviews over the past 30 days. The reason was a sudden update.
There is a theory that Capcom slipped experimental DRM protection Enigma Protector into the old game, designed to “kill” modifications. The reaction of players to such an update to Resident Evil Revelations was quite expected: they began to be indignant.
Players also noted that some glitches that were fixed in other patches have returned. All this did not have the best impact on the rating of Resident Evil Revelations on Steam.
Capcom urgently rolled back the update and apologized for the inconvenience (and promised to re-release it when the problem was resolved); the fact of the presence of DRM in the update has not yet been recognized.
It is noteworthy that, judging by recent player research, Resident Evil 5 also uses this “a formidable anti-mod DRM”, but mods and cheats work quietly. However, there are no special problems only for “consumers”, but trainer developers/those who want to make changes to the code should have them – Enigma does not allow connecting a debugger to the game.
