Roosh investment group, the largest Ukrainian AI community AI HOUSE and the Ministry of Digital Transformation have studied the artificial intelligence ecosystem of Ukraine – collected the main theses from the report.

• Over the past 10 years, the number of AI/ML specialists in Ukraine has grown 5 times and now reaches 5,200 people.
• The most common professions among specialists are Data Scientists and ML Engineers, which make up 63% of all specialists in the industry (these areas offer the highest salaries among all IT specialties in country).
• In the AI/ML industry of Ukraine, most often there are specialists aged 21 to 25 years.

• The number of IT companies has doubled over the past 10 years, and the number of companies working in the field of artificial intelligence reached 243 in 2023 (they attracted more than $10.8 million in venture capital investments).
• Since 2019, two Ukrainian AI companies have become unicorns (Grammarly and People.ai), and now the three largest startups are valued at more than $14.5 billion.

• In general, Ukraine ranks second in the number of AI companies among the countries of Central and Eastern Europe (34 such companies were registered in the last 4 years alone).
• Compared to the rest of Europe, Ukraine has a higher concentration of AI startups in marketing, gaming and business software.

• 55% of Ukrainian AI companies have offices in Kyiv, where the largest pool of talent is concentrated — 47.5%.

• Since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the number of defense tech startups using AI solutions has increased significantly.
