“Teaching Assistant” is based on ethnographic research
The Sberbank team presented at the Moscow International Education Fair a new service based on artificial intelligence, Teaching Assistant. It is capable of automatically converting an audio recording of a lesson into text, analyzing and providing detailed reports of the lesson in the form of its various characteristics – distribution of time in the lesson, the use of different communication techniques, the speed of speech of the teacher, and so on.
The solution was developed under the leadership of the SberEducation Academic Laboratory based on the communication techniques recognition model from the Sberbank Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, the GigaChat neural network model and the SaluteSpeech speech technology platform. Consulting support was provided by the MDG group of companies.
«Teaching Assistant» is based on an ethnographic study of effective teaching practices and has been tested among a number of teachers in Russian schools. Currently, as part of the development of the project, research work is being carried out jointly with St. Petersburg State University, as well as planning further research with scientific and technological centers in Russia.
