Wizard of the Coast is preparing to expand the universe of Dungeons & Dragons, exploring new scenarios outside of the Forgotten Realms.

The company previously announced plans to invest $1 billion in AAA video games, but now in an interview, Wizard of the Coast head of digital product development Dan Ayoub explained that the goal will be to expand existing and develop new intellectual properties, including creating a new role-playing game that explores a different setting from the one in Baldur's Gate 3.

Ayoub stressed that despite the popularity of Faerun, it is important to explore new settings beyond outside of it, as there are many longtime fans of the brand eager to explore other settings.

Ayoub stated that he could not provide further details. But during a recent meeting with investors about future video games, Wizard of the Coast mentioned settings like Eberron and Dragonlance.
