And the share of Windows 10, on the contrary, returned to its previous level of over 70%
The market share of Windows 11 is showing negative growth for the second month in a row: if in February the share of this operating system was 28.16%, now it has dropped below 26%. Such data is contained in the Statcounter report for April 2024.
Over the past month, the share of Windows 11 dropped by 0.97% — up to 25.65%. At the same time, the share of Windows 10 gained 0.96% and again exceeded the 70% mark, reaching 70.03%. For the first time since September 2023, Windows 10 returned to such a high level.
Windows 11 is experiencing massive user churn in the middle of its lifecycle, and this is quite an unusual phenomenon. Even Windows 8 and 8.1, which can hardly be called successful operating systems, began to actively lose share after Windows 10 came out.
The share of Windows 7 in April decreased by 0.04% — until 3%. But Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 added 0.08% and 0.09%, respectively — up to 0.36% and 0.53%.
