It has a black and white OLED screen, but it has support for 5G, NFC and a 50-megapixel camera
The Light company has released a new version of a minimalist phone — Light Phone 3. The main idea of the device, like the previous two models, is simplicity: it is aimed at people who want to make calls and send messages. Therefore, Light Phone 3 does not have the usual multimedia functions for a modern smartphone, and even its screen is black and white. The manufacturer claims that Light Phone will never have social networks, the Internet, email, news or advertising.
Despite maintaining the general idea of simplicity, the new product has several improvements compared to its predecessor, the manufacturer notes. Light Phone 2 included a number of limitations that not everyone liked. For example, it had an E-ink display, and some users could not get used to it due to the low refresh rate. Light Phone 3 has a 3.92-inch black and white OLED display with a resolution of 1080p, its refresh rate is much higher, although it is inferior to regular smartphones. On the side panel of the device there is a scroll wheel for manually adjusting the brightness, it also turns on the flashlight.
Light Phone 3 received support for 5G and 4G networks, the NFC standard, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 (SM4450) processor, 128 GB of internal memory, a fingerprint sensor, 50-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front cameras. The cameras have a shutter button, much like a regular camera. A USB-C port is provided for charging, and the battery is removable. Despite the already accomplished announcement, the start of sales of the new phone is expected only in January next year. If pre-ordered before July 15, it will cost $399, then the price will increase to $799.
