Changan cars, transformed into Volgas, will be produced using Western equipment that remains at the plant in Nizhny Novgorod

Gleb Nikitin, governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, speaking at SPIEF 2024, revealed an interesting detail about the production of the new Volga. According to him, the cars will be produced on the same equipment that was used to produce Volkswagen and Skoda cars.

«It is important that all production equipment, which allows various technological processes to be provided at the highest level, has been preserved in Nizhny Novgorod and will be used to implement this project . This means for people, for residents, for potential consumers of products, that the cars that will be produced will be produced at the same level of quality as Volkswagen and Skoda», &mdash ; told by Gleb Nikitin.

Whether all the equipment of the Volkswagen AG concern will be used for the production of the new Volga, or only part (for example, only paint booths), is unclear, but the adaptation of the production process customized for Volkswagen cars and Skoda clearly requires a lot of effort to produce Changan cars. The problem with the restart of the Kaluga Volkswagen plant is precisely that it is difficult to produce anything other than those models of the German concern that were assembled there. Somehow, at the assembly site in Nizhny Novgorod, this problem was solved.
