AMD understands that long-term socket support is its advantage over Intel. The AM5 platform will be supported until 2025 and even beyond

But there are no details about support after 2025

With some exceptions, AMD prefers to support its processor sockets for quite a long time. AM5 will be no exception — he will be in service for a couple more years.

The company announced that it remains committed to plans for long-term support for AM5. In particular, AMD is going to fulfill its original promise to support the socket until at least 2025.

Recall that the company announced this at the launch of this platform, but such plans do not always remain unchanged. An AMD representative assured that the company understands that long-term support — this is her strength.

I think we've certainly realized that the longevity of the AM4 platform was one of the main reasons that led to Ryzen's success. Changing sockets will be carefully considered. We know the impact of moving to a new socket and want to stay on AM5 for as long as possible. We are firmly committed to the 2025 goal and beyond, and we will see how long that commitment lasts beyond 2025.

That is, AMD plans to support AM5 after 2025, but cannot yet say anything specific about this. According to available data, the upcoming desktop Ryzen 8000 (possibly called Ryzen 9000) will definitely have an AM5 version and will be released next year. There is no such data yet about the generation based on the Zen 6 architecture.

Recall that socket AM4 is still not just supported — New processors are coming out for it. In particular, new Ryzen 5000X3D are expected.
