Another aircraft is now completing tests
Ulyanovsk Aircraft Plant «Aviastar» (a branch of PJSC «Il» United Aircraft Corporation) manufactured and handed over to the Russian Ministry of Defense the next serial military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A. According to the managing director of PJSC «Il» Daniil Brenerman, another aircraft under the current year’s program is now in the final stages of factory testing. In addition, a further increase in the series is planned: the production reserve for next year is already being created.
Il-76MD-90A is a deeply modernized version of the Il-76MD heavy aircraft and is created from domestic components. More than 70% of its systems and assemblies have been updated, more powerful PS-90A-76 engines have been installed, the chassis has been modernized, and the wing has been strengthened and lightened. In addition, the plane received a «glass» cabin — a complex of multifunctional screens where all the information necessary for the crew is displayed.
The Il-76MD-90A aircraft is designed for transportation and parachute landing of military equipment, personnel and cargo. In November of this year, it was demonstrated at the international exhibition Dubai Airshow-2023: for the first time in the history of modern Russia, an aircraft of this class was presented abroad. Then it was reported that about 50 requests for the purchase of such aircraft were received.
