The online auction Bring a Trailer is currently bidding for a rare Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG supercar in a special Black Series version, and bids have already reached $550 thousand, with a week left until the end of the auction.< /p>
This particular example of the SLS AMG Black Series is a rarity, as the manufacturer is known to have produced only about 130 of these coupes. The 2014 car shows 4200 km on the odometer, which is another important factor determining the high cost.
The Black Series, introduced in 2013, features not only its exclusive gullwing styling, but also improved performance. The model received a reinforced 6.2-liter V8, increasing power from the base 571 to 631 hp. This made the SLS AMG Black Series the world's most powerful naturally aspirated production car at the time.
In addition to the new engine, the Black Series version acquired a redesigned transmission, stiffer suspension, revised steering gear and aerodynamic elements.
The car was purchased new by the owner for $285,800, more expensive than the regular version mainly due to the optional Bang & Olufsen.
