Mutsumi Inomata's sister reported that the artist died on March 10, 2024 at the age of 63. He became famous for creating graphics for the Tales of Japanese role-playing game series.
The family did not release the cause of death. It is reported that this happened unexpectedly and it seems that until recently the artist felt good. Matsumi Inomata worked on projects that remained unfinished.
Characters created by Matsumi Inomata have appeared in Tales of Berseria, Tales of Zestiria, Tales of Destiny, Tales of Eternia, Tales of Rebirth, Tales of Graces and others. The artist has also worked on a number of anime, including Windaria, Future GPX Cyber Formula and Brain Powerd. The illustrator was also responsible for the character costumes for Tekken 5 and 6.
