Biometric check-in service will be launched towards the end of the year
The Russian government has approved a decree according to which Russians will soon be able to check into hotels, holiday homes, boarding houses, campsites and tourist centers without presenting documents. Personality can be confirmed through the Unified Biometric System (UBS), as reported by the office of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko. The service for checking into hotels without a passport will first be launched in pilot mode, it should be operational in the second half of 2024.
Now it is impossible to check into the hotel without a passport and contacting the staff at the reception. But after the launch of the new service, the guest will be able to register independently using a tablet or self-service terminal. To confirm your identity using biometrics, one glance will be enough, after which all you have to do is get the key and go to your room, as noted in the Deputy Prime Minister’s office. Those who have already registered verified biometrics will be able to use the service.
