At the Vostochny cosmodrome, the assembly of the «package» heavy launch vehicle «Angara-A5» for the first launch, reports the press service of Roscosmos. Specialists from the Vostochny Space Center and Scientific and Practical Center named after M.V. Khrunichev docked four side blocks of the first stage to the central block of the second stage of the Angara-A5 launch vehicle. in the installation and testing building.
Assembling the «package» was performed on a revolver-type stand, which in October 2023 was used to assemble an electric refueling prototype of the Angara-NZh. Now the specialists are preparing to transfer the assembled «package» launch vehicle «Angara-A5» to the workplace for docking with the third stage and carrying out further checks and operations.
As we have already written, complex tests are also currently underway at the Vostochny Cosmodrome with the Orion upper stage. After pneumatic and electrical tests, the unit will be filled with fuel components and compressed gases, and then general assembly will be performed with the Angara-A5 launch vehicle. The first launch of the rocket from Vostochny is planned in the first ten days of April 2024.
