Toyota announced huge discounts on Toyota Camry in China — the car fell in price by about 20%. The discount on the pure gasoline version is $4,150, on the hybrid — almost 4.5 thousand dollars. And this despite the fact that sales of the 9th generation Camry in China started in March of this year.
As a result, taking into account discounts, the cost of a gasoline Camry dropped to 19.3 thousand dollars, a hybrid — up to 20.7 thousand dollars. There are no official explanations as to why such discounts have been introduced now, after just two months of sales, but Camry initially could not boast of great demand: in the first month, about 5 thousand pre-orders were collected, while for many Chinese new products that much is collected in a week or even in a couple of days. And apparently, real sales are going just as poorly as pre-orders. It will be possible to talk about this exactly in a few days, when sales statistics of the joint venture FAW Toyota — it produces Camry.
Camry 9th generation are already sold in Russia, but they are supplied directly from China through parallel import. If the car becomes cheaper in China, then over time prices in Russia will go down.
