The program is planned to be expanded to different countries
American home booking platform Airbnb has implemented the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to identify tenants who are renting homes for New Year's parties. This information was provided by the publication «Gazeta» with reference to Business Insider.
Back in 2020, the company introduced a ban on rental housing for entertainment events with a large number of participants, and although this was initially a temporary restriction, starting in 2022, it became permanent.
Airbnb service representatives clarified that artificial intelligence analyzes hundreds of factors in a user’s profile before canceling or approving a booking.
The verification process includes the length of the rental, the distance from the tenants' arrival location, and the time interval between booking and check-in. Particular attention is paid to attempts to rent housing for a short period, from one to three days.
AI rejected more than 63.5 thousand transactions in the US before the New Year. The company plans to expand the program to Canada, the UK, France, Spain, Australia and New Zealand.
