Renders based on leaks and drawings
Apple has been experimenting with different camera bump designs for the standard iPhone 16 models over the past few months, but now the company seems to have its mind set.
The publication Macrumors created renders of the iPhone 16 based on the leaks received. At the same time, the smartphone here looks the same as in previously published drawings, which were leaked the day before by a verified insider. It is not 100% known whether the iPhone 16 will be available in these colors.
The camera bump has two separate rings for the standard wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle cameras. It is logical to assume that in this generation Apple may switch to a 48-megapixel module and an ultra-wide-angle module. This has been a long time coming. According to Macrumors, the camera's vertical orientation remained the same throughout the prototyping process, and Apple did not change the position of the flash or camera lenses.
The new smartphone really resembles the iPhone X, released in 2017. While Apple also used a vertical camera for the iPhone 12, it had a wider square bump that also housed the flash and microphone.
Macrumors writes that thanks to the vertical camera position, Apple will introduce spatial video recording to the base iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models. At the moment, iPhone 15 models have a diagonal arrangement of camera modules and cannot shoot spatial video. This feature is currently limited to iPhone 15 Pro models and Vision Pro.
Macrumors adds that this is what a pre-production prototype looks like, but the design may well change by the final version.
