It should go online by the end of 2025
Acting Deputy Prime Minister — Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District and candidate for this position Yuri Trutnev, during a speech in the State Duma, spoke about how work is being carried out on the new domestic aircraft LMS-901 «Baikal». This light turboprop aircraft with a passenger capacity of up to 9 people is designed to replace the outdated An-2 «Kukuruznik» on regional routes.
According to Trutnev, work is now underway on the configuration and cost of the Baikal aircraft. Let us recall that at the end of last year it became known that the base cost of the aircraft had increased: it was assumed that the price would exceed 200 million rubles. Certification tests of the new aircraft began in January of this year, then it was reported that five Baikals should be delivered to airlines this year. And now Trutnev reported that «Baikal» should go online by the end of 2025.
The plane «Baikal» is being built. We, together with the Ministry of Industry, are actively working on this, trying to make it competitive in terms of configuration, price — Not everything is simple there, but by the end of 2025 «Baikal» should go on line.
