It detects the presence of people even when they are motionless
Xiaomi introduced a new sensor called «occupancy sensor» (People Presence Sensor), which promises to accurately determine whether there are people within range.
The key difference between this sensor and the Mijia Human Body Sensor 2S from Xiaomi is the inclusion of a low-power millimeter-wave radar. The technology offers a wider detection angle — 130 degrees and can dynamically detect human movement within a radius of 6 meters, and the static detection radius reaches 4 meters. It is important to note that this is not just a motion sensor: it can accurately detect people even when they are motionless.
The sensor is powered by a single CR2450 battery, which Xiaomi claims has a lifespan of up to 3 years. It is equipped with built-in magnets for easy attachment and has an adhesive backing.
You can connect your device to Mijia APP and set up communication with other compatible devices. You can, for example, set the lights to turn on automatically when the sensor detects that someone is entering the room, or turn the lights off when no one is in the room. The sensor can work with a smart thermostat to regulate the room temperature.
Its scheduled for release on May 15th for $16.
