The Dragon Quest series is celebrating its 38th anniversary, but other than the announcement of the Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D remake, Square Enix has made no announcements, leaving fans anxious for news about Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate.

Announced in May 2021, Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate still remains a big mystery that is eagerly awaited due to the popularity of the franchise, and because of the special responsibility. This is the last project in the series to involve composer Koichi Sugiyama and illustrator Akira Toriyama in one way or another.

That's what Yuji Horii, creator of Dragon Quest and the only remaining member of the legendary creative trio, is about series, said in a recent message posted on social network X:

“Thank you everyone for your congratulatory messages. You've had a lot of concern about the state of Dragon Quest 12, but I actually just held a meeting about it. I can't reveal the details yet, but we want to create a game that will be worthy of the final contribution of two people who have passed away. I'm doing my best!”

In this way, Horii is trying to reassure Dragon Quest fans, since the lack of news about Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate is alarming that the game has fallen into the group of cancelled.
