Tesla Product Launch Director Rich Otto announced that he has left Tesla. He later published a message in which he shared the details of his departure from Tesla.

Otto stated that «great companies are made of great people and great products, and great products are only possible when their employees thrive». Recent layoffs that rocked the company and its morale destroyed this harmony, after which he found it difficult to see long-term growth, so he ultimately decided to leave.

Otto worked at Tesla for almost seven years and was responsible for the launch and first delivery of the Tesla Cybertruck and Model S Plaid. He has also participated in many Tesla events and media projects.

Tesla previously announced that it would lay off 10% of its workforce, but in fact the cuts turned out to be more widespread. Latest reports indicate that entire departments are being cut, with layoffs affecting customer service employees, engineers, production line workers and the logistics team.

Musk initially told employees that this was due to Tesla's rapid headcount growth over the past few years, which led to hiring inefficiencies and duplication of roles. More recently, however, he also told investors and employees that it was about «restructuring for the next stage of growth».
