This is a light and open language model
Google has introduced a family of lightweight, modern open language models.
New language model, which is available in two flavors — Gemma 2B and Gemma 7B, intended for developers. Google says Gemma is built for the responsible development of artificial intelligence and draws on the same research and technology used to create the Gemini models.
That is, this is artificial intelligence, which is designed to help developers create other artificial intelligence more responsibly and safely.
Both models are pre-trained and manually tuned variants. Google claims they perform better than Mistral 7B and Llama 13B in MMLU tests.
Google also notes that its new models can run on regular PCs and laptops, but also in the Google cloud itself.
You can try Gemma completely free, and the ability to run it on your own PC makes the model more attractive than many others.
