Even before the official release in the country, entrepreneurs established a new business
The excitement around the Apple Vision Pro has spread to several Chinese stores in Beijing. According to SCMP, the Apple Vision Pro mixed reality headset is not officially sold in China. However, some Chinese sellers have already started renting out the expensive gadget to enthusiasts who are eager to try it out.
Dozens of advertisements for such rentals in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an and other cities can be found on various sites. For example, Vision Space, a Beijing-based virtual reality startup, offers clients to try out the device for $15 an hour. The largest store, located in the Hopson One shopping mall in eastern Beijing, has welcomed more than 10,000 customers since Feb. 4, according to company founder and CEO Song Lei. «There were a lot of people over the weekend, people lined up to get acquainted with the gadget», — Song said.
Advertised rental prices ranged from $15 per hour to $200 per day, with some merchants requiring a deposit of at least $4,200. Some advertisements stated that users would have the option to purchase the device after use.
Vision Pro will launch in China no later than May, and the registration process with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is «close to completion».
On the Weibo social network, the #AppleVisionPro tag has already collected 60 million views, and #VisionPro — 12 million views.
