A couple of weeks after the announcement of the Aston Martin Vantage GT3, the manufacturer introduced the Vantage GT4 racing car.

Aston Martin says the Vantage GT4 shares approximately 80% of its mechanical and design elements with the regular road car, including an aluminum chassis, engine, transmission and most body panels. Added a wing at the rear, a large splitter at the front and a vented hood for better airflow. They increase downforce and reduce drag compared to the conventional model.

The car is equipped with 18-inch wheels, while the road version is equipped with 21-inch wheels. The GT4 received adjustable shock absorbers and more options for adjusting the camber of the wheels. There is no word on changes to the performance of the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. It is controlled by a custom racing ECU from Bosch Motorsport. Interestingly, Aston Martin has cut back on the eight-speed automatic transmission. Technically there are still eight gears inside, but a software tweak locks the top two and disables automatic gear shifting. Six gears are manually shifted using paddle shifters on the steering wheel.

The biggest changes are to the cockpit, which looks completely redesigned for racing. Digital displays replace the standard equipment, and the plush center console is replaced with a carbon fiber structure containing various controls. A roll cage and fire extinguishing systems were also installed.
