The creators of Baldur's Gate 3 took part in the developer conference. According to the author of Baldur's Gate 3, the problem lies in corporate greed – in the pursuit of quarterly profits, managers deprive themselves of valuable resources:

“Greed has been ruining everything for a long time, ever since since I started working. I've been fighting with publishers all my life, and I keep seeing the same, the same, the same mistakes over and over again.

It's always quarterly profit – the only thing that matters is the numbers, and then you [managers] fire everyone, and the next year you say, “Damn, I'm out of developers,” and then you start hiring again people, and then you make acquisitions, and then again drive them into the same cycle….”

Sven Vincke called on publishers to curb their appetite and change their approach to work: < /p>

“You can make a reserve. Just slow down a little. Moderate your greed…care about people, don't lose institutional knowledge accumulated by people you lose every time so you have to go through the same cycle over and over and over again. This really pisses me off.”
