Zen 5, RDNA 3+ and XDNA 2
AMD has confirmed the main characteristics of its upcoming Strix Point mobile hybrid processors.
They will be released this year and will be a completely new development. The processor part will be represented by Zen 5 cores, graphics — architecture RDNA 3+ (it was also sometimes called RDNA 3.5), and APUs will receive the XDNA 2 block.
Thus, the new APUs should be noticeably faster than the Ryzen 7000/8000, and at the same time bring something new to the market, since the Ryzen 8040, apart from the XDNA block, is completely identical to the Ryzen 7040.
By the way, the XDNA 2 unit should be three times faster than what is in the Ryzen 8040, that is, we are talking about 48 TOPS, which is a lot for a processor of this class.
According to early data, regular Ryzen 8050 — this is exactly what Strix Point should be called — will have up to 12 processor cores (Zen 5+Zen 5C), iGPU with 1024 stream processors and an XDNA 2 unit with 25 TOPS performance. But there will also be a Ryzen 8050 Strix Halo, which will already have up to 16 CPU cores, 2560 stream processors incredible for an iGPU, and the top-end XDNA 2 with just those same 48 TOPS.
