Some believe in a further decline, others expect prices to rise
At the end of this year, Chinese brands, including Chery, Changan, JAC, Haval, Geely, Omoda, began to sharply reduce prices for their cars in Russia.
In some cases, the price reduction reaches 500 thousand rubles, in particular, on the JAC model. Some dealers believe that the reason is the strengthening of the ruble, while they draw different future scenarios.
The AvtoSpetsTsentr Group of Companies stated that although prices decreased in November, this trend is unlikely to continue in the near future. Representatives of Avilon share the same point of view.
At the same time, the general director of the Avtodom dealer holding, Andrei Olkhovsky, told Gazeta.ru that in 2024, competition for the Russian market may intensify between Chinese companies, which will entail a reduction in prices.
Vice-President of the National Automobile Union Anton Shaparin said that brands from China are forced to adapt to declining demand, which is why prices are falling.
According to independent automotive industry consultant Sergei Burgazliev, Chinese companies are reducing prices on certain models because they are selling illiquid inventories. He also believes that it is worth waiting until January-February, when the market traditionally falls, if there is no urgency in buying a car.
