The Ministry of Industry and Trade has prepared a list based on data from the Federal Customs Service, taking into account the make, model, and power of cars. This list will be used as reference when calculating fees. In addition to the increased recycling fee, starting from April it will be necessary to obtain a vehicle type approval (VTA), which confirms the vehicle’s compliance with the requirements of the Customs Union regulations.
Denis Migal said that the rise in price will affect «gray» models. The popular Voyah Free, imported through Kyrgyzstan before the rate increase, costs around 4 million rubles. From April 1, the price will increase by 1.5 million rubles.
Brands officially presented in Russia are unlikely to rewrite their price tags due to growing competition, expansion of the assortment, and preservation of prices on the secondary market.
A source in the Russian auto industry said that some models will rise in price by more than 30%.
