The Geely Galaxy E8 super sedan turned out to be affordable even by Chinese standards
Geely officially introduced the Galaxy E8 sedan in China. This rather large model, the size of an Audi A6, turned out to be really cheap, especially considering the fact that we are not talking about a gasoline model, but about an electric car.
Pier Luigi Ferrari, who recently moved from Exeed to Geely, worked on the design of the Galaxy E8. In terms of body type, the Galaxy E8 is not a classic sedan, but a fastback – it has a sloping roofline and a low beltline. Sign of the times: retractable door handles.
Not to say that the design is memorable, but it is not a compromise in terms of aerodynamics. Geely Galaxy E8 – one of the most aerodynamic cars in the world, if we talk about production models. Air resistance coefficient Cd – only 0.199! Only Xiaomi SU7 (Cd 0.195) is better. For example, in third place in this parameter is the Mercedes-Benz EQS (Cd 0.2).
With dimensions of 5010 x 1920 x 1465 mm, the wheelbase length reaches 2925 mm. This is comparable to the Audi A6.
Geely Galaxy E8 demonstrates a completely new approach to the design of the front panel: goodbye to three separate screens, like in Monjaro – instead of them there is one long display with a diagonal of 45 inches and a resolution of 8K! Of course, to process graphics on such a screen you need a powerful hardware platform, and it is there – this is Snapdragon 8295.
Geely Galaxy E8 received a two-spoke steering wheel, wireless charging for a smartphone, an Infinity sound system with 12 speakers, a projection screen.
The electric car is based on the SEA trolley, on which many Zeekr cars are built, as well as the first Volvo minivan – EM90.
In the basic version, the Geely Galaxy E8 is rear-wheel drive, with a 272 hp engine and a traction battery with a capacity of 62 kW·h. This version accelerates to 100 km/h in 6 seconds and can travel up to 550 km on a single charge (according to the CLTC methodology). There is a rear-wheel drive version with a large range (665 km), it has a traction battery with a capacity of 76 kW·h.
The all-wheel drive version has two electric motors producing a total of 645 hp. Acceleration to 100 km/h – in 3.5 s (faster than Porsche Taycan GTS). In the all-wheel drive version, the traction battery has a capacity of 75.6 kW·h, range – 620 km.
Cost of the basic version of Geely Galaxy E8 – only $25,000, but there's a catch: this option doesn't have heated seats or a heat pump. That is, this equipment is definitely not for Russia. Heated seats, a heat pump, 12-speaker audio and various driver assistance functions appear in the second trim level for $26.2 thousand. But the drive here is still rear-wheel drive.
All-wheel drive – only in the top version, which is called 620 Performance and costs 32.3 thousand dollars. This Geely Galaxy E8 has everything.
