The top version is a hybrid, but there will also be a version with a regular gasoline engine
The third generation Honda Freed compact van premiered in Japan. The car has changed a lot in appearance and now looks more like a crossover than a minivan. Considering that all-wheel drive is announced and there is a Crosstar version with massive bumpers, roof rails, widened wheel arches and special alloy wheels, the Freed can easily pass for a crossover.
The dimensions of the third generation car are 4310 x 1695 x 1755 mm, wheelbase — 2740 mm. The compact van is 45 mm longer than its predecessor, but retains the same wheelbase. In the Japanese Honda lineup, the Freed sits between the Fit and Vezel models: all three models are built on different versions of the same platform.
Honda Freed can be either a six-seater with three rows of seats or a five-seater two-row. Both variants feature stain- and scratch-resistant seat upholstery.
Inside, there is a new front instrument panel with a larger free-standing media screen and a digital instrument panel. The creators of the car added deflectors for the ventilation system to the roof for rear passengers.
The third generation Honda Freed will be offered with both a conventional gasoline engine and a hybrid power plant, drive — both front and full. Honda itself did not disclose the characteristics of the engines, but the Japanese resource BestCarWeb shared the details: the hybrid power plant will include a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of 106 hp. and an electric motor with a power of 131 hp. — a similar powerplant is used in the Fit and Vezel models.
The third generation Honda Freed will go on sale in Japan this summer. Approximate prices — from 16 thousand dollars for the basic gasoline Freed Air to 20.5 thousand dollars for the hybrid Freed Crosstar.
