The first tests of the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 show that its iGPU is so powerful that it catches up with the desktop GeForce GTX 1650 Ti

But the CPU is not so impressive

The first results of testing the new mobile processor AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which is the flagship of the Strix Point line, have appeared on the Internet.

It is worth noting that in the software database the processor is listed as Ryzen AI 9 HX 170, but AMD at the last moment renamed these APUs.

Among other things, it stands out for the presence of 12 cores, whereas previously in this segment AMD offered a maximum of eight, so the new product should be much faster than the Ryzen 7 7840/8840 and their variants. And so it is.

In Geekbench 6, the new product scores 2544 and 14,158 points in single-threaded and multi-threaded modes, respectively. This is about 7% and 20% more than the Ryzen 9 8945HS. The increase is quite noticeable, although far from record-breaking. But you need to remember that the new APU contains four large Zen 5 cores and eight small Zen 5C cores. And although technically they are exactly the same, they operate at lower frequencies.

The new product is about the same amount faster than the Core Ultra 9 185H and Ryzen 9 7940HS. But at the same time, the desktop eight-core Ryzen 7 7700X is ahead due to higher power limits.

But the graphics core is more impressive. Radeon 890M is about 40% faster than Radeon 780M! And this despite the fact that the Radeon 780M was already one of the most powerful iGPUs on the market. As a result, the Radeon 890M, at least in Geekbench, performs at the level of the desktop GeForce GTX 1650 Ti.

Recall that laptops based on the new APUs will be available from July.
