Russian electric scooter rental services began to massively block the accounts of teenagers under 18 years of age. The fact is that the rules of the services limit the age of users of electric scooters.
As the team of «MTS Urent» told (formerly simply «Yurent») using the authentication service «MTS ID» in two weeks from the moment of integration, almost 4,000 accounts of minor users were identified and blocked, which made it possible to prevent violations of traffic rules on electric scooters. The transfer of information about the date of birth occurs during authentication in encrypted form in connection with the account phone number. Most of the minors were identified in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod and Kazan.

Control over registrations of minors — a very important area of our work. We are considering integrations with banking services to further identify the user's age. At the time of integration, we will be able to track cases where a bank card belongs to a teenager and block such an account. These users will not be able to rent a scooter or bicycle.
