New AMD CPUs will retain the AM5 socket, but Intel will again have a replacement. Next-generation desktop processors should be expected in the third quarter of 2024

Both from Intel and AMD

This is how AMD supports older sockets. The company has released a new Ryzen 7 5700 processor and is preparing to release several more

Intel has introduced Meteor Lake processors, which are completely new, but, firstly, are only available in laptops, and secondly, they bring little new to the market globally. New desktop products from Intel — not new products at all, and AMD hasn’t presented anything yet.

Judging by the latest data, it looks like we will have to wait until the third quarter of next year.

Новые CPU AMD сохранят сокет AM5, а вот у Intel снова будет замена. Настольные процессоры нового поколения стоит ожидать в третьем квартале 2024 года

It is in the third quarter of 2024 that new motherboards will supposedly be launched. In the case of AMD, it will be the same AM5 platform, but 800 series chipsets, and for Intel it will be a new LGA 1851 socket for Arrow Lake processors.

That is, we are waiting for truly new desktop processors from both companies: Ryzen 8000 (or Ryzen 9000 — the name question is open) and Arrow Lake, which will be a development of the Meteor Lake line, but already in desktop segment.

Recall that AMD has committed to support the AM5 socket until 2025 and later, but Intel will change the socket again next year.
